Your Itinerary for the Perfect Fall Day at Snowbasin

As the dog days of summer come to a close, and the first cooler days settle over the mountain, here at Snowbasin Resort, fall festivities are in full swing. For the autumn enthusiasts—and more casual observers of the changing season—get ready to soak up all your favorite seasonal activities in one place. At Snowbasin, the itinerary for a full fall weekend awaits.

Stroll Among the Shades of Fall: Hiking at Snowbasin

Ah, the crisp morning air of autumn. It’s that first signal that the seasonal shift is finally here. It’s also the ideal weather for embarking on a hike through brilliant shades of changing mountain foliage.

At Snowbasin, you can choose your perfect outing from roughly 26 miles of hiking trails. Make the climb—while Strawberry Trail is temporarily closed for the construction of the DeMoisy Express, Ridge Trail is your go-to trek to catch summit views that are impossible to beat. Or, for those looking for a more leisurely stroll, take Snowbasin Trail from the base area to connect to the Green Pond Trail. A popular route year round, this shady trail lights up with color every autumn. Keep an eye peeled for guest appearances, wildlife of all shapes and sizes are regularly spotted on this route.

Sunday Brunch, but Make it Scenic: Mountain Top Brunch

Let’s be clear—this is not your average brunch service. Take floor-to-ceiling views from 8,700 feet, add a buffet line-up of decant house-made dishes—from Salmon Beurre Blanc and Blackberry Fennel Salad to Biscuits & Gravy and Applewood Smoked Bacon—and you’ll discover a way to brunch like you’ve never brunched before. Frequently listed on must-do Northern Utah itineraries, the Mountain Top Brunch service is a perfect fall feast to dive into after a morning spent hiking on the hill.

Let Loose in Your Lederhosen: Snowbasin Takes on Oktoberfest

The celebration of fall doesn’t end at brunch! Head back down to the base area and get into the season’s spirit at our very own SnowWiesn Oktoberfest. Don your dirndl and let loose in your lederhosen, this iconic Bavarian festival finds its home in the Utah mountains at Snowbasin each fall. In honor of the local German nickname for Oktoberfest,  d’Wiesn, SnowWiesn is a fun, family-friendly take on the iconic tradition. Come for the classics —we’re serving up plenty of delicious Bavarian food and have a curated lineup of craft beers on tap each week. Stay for the market, featuring locally made and sourced goods, live music, and fun activities, including a traditional stein holding competition and a Bavarian costume contest.

Gondola at Golden Hour: End Your Day with Peak Perfection

After the scenic bike rides and leisurely strolls, the cheers at brunch and the skols at SnowWiesn, there’s no better way to cap off a full fall day spent at Snowbasin than with a sunset gondola ride. Covering nearly 2 miles in about 9 minutes of ride time, you can take in the majesty of the mountains’ autumn glow from the comfort of your gondola. And with service operations on Needles extended to 6 PM, you can truly end your ideal autumn day on a high note.
