Snowbasin Promotes Ryan Woolsey to Director of Mountain Operations

Snowbasin Resort is pleased to announce the appointment of Ryan Woolsey as the resort’s new Director of Mountain Operations. This will mark Woolsey’s 21st season with Snowbasin and the sixth leadership role he has held at the mountain resort.

As the Director of Mountain Operations, Woolsey will lead and oversee all aspects of the Snowbasin’s Mountain Operations Department, including Lift Operations, Lift Maintenance, Ski Patrol, Snowmaking, Grooming, Terrain Parks, Vehicle Maintenance and the Trail Crew. Snowbasin is recognized as one of the best ski resorts in North America and recently released plans to enhance the guest experience in the years to come. In this new role, Woolsey will play an integral part in shaping the future of the resort, alongside his fellow senior leaders.

“From his time as Ski Patrol Director to most recently being our Health and Safety Director, Ryan Woolsey has proven to be a ski industry professional through and through,” said Davy Ratchford, General Manager at Snowbasin. “As a young man from Ogden, Utah, Woolsey grew up at Snowbasin.  He’s keenly aware of what it takes to manage the mountain and improve it every day.  I’m so proud that this locally grown and award-winning leader has taken on this position.”

A native of the Ogden area, Woolsey grew up with a passion for the mountain and a desire to be involved in making Snowbasin a staple within the industry and his community. After graduating college, he found his way back to his home mountain and has spent the past 20 years of his career working in an array of positions across Snowbasin, fostering a unique skill set and knowledge of the resort's expansive terrain. Woolsey’s experience ranges from Slopes and Trails Manager and Ski Patrol Director to his most recent position as the Director of Health and Safety. In that role, Woolsey’s team was recognized across the industry by the National Ski Area Association twice for having the “Best Overall Safety Program.”

“I am fortunate to work for such an incredible company and at such a great resort,” said Woolsey. “From the parking lots to the top of the mountain, Snowbasin is lucky to employ the best people in the ski industry. I can’t imagine a better team to lead and work alongside. I look forward to everything we will accomplish together, and I am thrilled to be in a position to make a positive impact at a mountain that means so much to so many people."
