Significant enhancements and upgrades are coming to the resort and guest experience, starting with the construction of new lifts and a parking expansion for the upcoming season; and ultimately, the introduction of overnight accommodations including a hotel and village master plan.
Phase one features a new Ridgeline chairlift, beginner terrain, parking and hotel with completion planned by December 2024. Construction of the resort village is planned to commence by 2025, with additional retail, residential and resort amenities to be added over the span of many years. East West Partners, North America’s most experienced mountain resort developer, and international planning firm Ecosign are engaged with Snowbasin in planning and coordination of development activities.
The long-term vision of this plan expands the active village in the base area near Earl's Lodge and includes the following:

Why are you adding to Snowbasin?
Our top priority is and always has been to enhance the resort experience for our guests. We are working to ensure the evolution of Snowbasin will be an asset for our surrounding communities.
When will construction begin?
Construction began in June for Middle Bowl Express, with an expected opening prior to Christmas in 2021. Limited parking expansion is underway and will be completed prior to Opening Day of the 2021 season. The Club Med Hotel is expected to break ground in 2022, with completion in late 2024.
What is happening to the Old Day Lodge and Wildcat Parking Area?
The Old Day Lodge and Wildcat Parking Area are being removed following the 2021-22 winter season for the construction of the hotel. Parking is being expanded in Maples and the Canyon Rim lots, providing more stalls than will be removed.
Have these plans been approved by local authorities?
We are following our initial approvals in the 2011 Development Agreement with Weber County and 2013 Development Agreement with Morgan County. Snowbasin will coordinate approvals and permits as needed with each County.
What future plans exist beyond these?
Our top priority is to enhance the resort experience for our guests. We are currently focused on our first phase of resort enhancements and upgrades, and will provide updates for future plans as they are available.
What does this expansion mean for the water supply?
Snowbasin has purchased water rights over the years in anticipation of resort expansion and development, however additional water rights will need to be acquired, and those water rights converted for resort use. Snowbasin must strictly follow the procedures of the State Engineer to modify the use of these water rights for resort purposes. Those procedures and existing Utah law protect existing water right holders from impairment, and where necessary may impose obligations to mitigate any perceived harm to existing rights.
What does this expansion mean for sewer utilities?
Snowbasin has entered into discussions with the Mountain Green Sewer Improvement District (MGSID) to explore the potential for annexation of the resort properties into the boundaries of that district, which would then become the sanitary sewer service provider for the resort. We believe this has strong potential benefits for all participants and ties in nicely with plans to expand MGSID capacity.
What plans exist for other lift infrastructure?
We are committed to provide the best skiing experience possible for our guests. Plans have been submitted to the US Forest Service for our Mountain Master Plan. We will provide updates on additional lift projects when they are available.
Where will the Maples & Canyon Rim Parking expansion be located?
The new Maples Parking section will be located at the top of the parking lot, near the base of the mountain. Canyon Rim’s top parking section will be widened to park an additional row of cars.
How will this impact traffic in the area?
An updated traffic study will be provided to Weber County to accommodate any potential increases in visitor flows. The majority of Club Med’s international guests book one-week vacation packages, which include flights and airport transfers, which will reduce the traffic impact.
Has Snowbasin’s Master Plan been updated?
This project takes place in resort’s base area “Area A” development agreement with Weber County. The master mountain plan is being updated in coordination with East West Partners and Ecosign to envision additional lift, trail, snowmaking, parking and other enhancements to the skier experience.
