Partial Solar Eclipse Viewing

Mon Aug 21 2017

A total Solar Eclipse is coming to the United States.  The path of totality is about 150 miles north, but Northern Utah will have the greatest viewing circumstances in the State.  With the added elevation at Needles Lodge, we will have an amazing view of this partial eclipse!

Needles Gondola will be running 9:15 am - 2:00 pm. Gondola rides are free for 17/18 Premier Season Pass holders and 2017 Summer Pass Holders. If you don't have one of those the cost is $14 for adults (18 and over); $10 youth (7-17); and 6 and under are free. If you want to mountain bike, you can buy a mountain bike ticket.

It is highly recommended to bring your own eye protection or pinhole projection device.

FREE yoga provided by ASDT at 9:30 am outside the lower level of Needles Lodge, in front of the top of Middle Bowl Triple.

Full service food is available at Earl's Lodge 9:00am - 1:00pm. Grab and go items, refreshments, treats and snacks will be available at Needles Lodge 9:30am - 1:00pm.

Solar Eclipse Circumstances for the Ogden Area:

10:13 am – C1 or eclipse begins

11:33 am – Middle of the eclipse – the maximum amount of sun covered

12:59 pm – C4 or when the partial eclipse ends

During the middle of the eclipse, 91-93% of the sun will be covered.  When viewing, you should always wear eye protection or a mirrored viewing device, especially at higher elevations.

It is highly recommended to bring your own eye protection or pinhole projection device.

We recommend reading on how to safely view the solar eclipse.

The Grizzly Center will be open 9:00am - 2:00pm. The Ticket window will open at 9:00am. You can pick up or purchase your season pass at the ticket window starting at 9:00am. If you have a premier season pass from last year and used the same profile to purchase your 2017-18 season pass, your pass is active and you can go straight to the gondola.
