About the Bands:
Soul singer and songwriter Erica Falls credits her unique vintage sound to her childhood growing up in New Orleans’ 9th Ward, where her parents introduced her to Roberta Flack, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Nina Simone, Sarah Vaughn, and Whitney Houston. Whether on stage or in the studio, she channels a sassy, soulful tone that recalls an earlier era. But Erica cautions her fans: “Vintage soul is not about bringing the listener back to a time of authentic music, it’s about reminding them that it never went anywhere,” she says.
Fat Apollo & The Cellulites:
Fat Apollo & The Cellulites is a genre bending band that explores music through the lens of Hip Hop, Funk, Jazz and Rock. Once upon a rhyme emcee Fat Apollo heard of the nefarious Cellulites, crazed musicians with an itchy funk finger. Together they formed a crew, to take Hip Hop to the untold reaches of space and beyond. With proper tools they constructed grooves capable of transporting ears to genre-bending soundscapes. They plan to shake down barriers and encourage people to dance and think at the same time. Nod your head to the prelude of a journey through words and melodies. Fists raised to the sky, head bouncing to the beat, and ears open it is Fat Apollo & The Cellulites.
