Snowbasin, Utah – September 29, 2015 – Snowbasin Resort will offer several Dining Discovery experiences throughout October including Martian Dark Sky Stargazing event, Thai Fusion Culinary Expedition, Cooking 101 Class and their annual Halloween Party. The resort will close for summer operations after the Pray for Snow Party on October 4th but will hold a dining event every week throughout October.
Martians and aliens will take over Needles Lodge on October 9 for a Martian Dark Sky Stargazing Event. Take advantage of the dark sky and view the abundance of stars from 9,000 feet with telescopes provided by Ogden Astronomical Society. The event is free for season passholders and just $10 for adults and $5 for children age 11 and under. Food and beverages will be available in Needles Lodge. An alien costume contest and out-of-this-world entertainment make the evening a unique family-friendly event!
Take a Culinary Expedition into Thai Fusion cuisine at the Dining Discovery event on October 16 with the magical back-drop of the high alpine autumn. Enjoy an amuse bouche of pork and shrimp spring roll followed by live action stations of red curry prawns and carved spicy bulgogi flank steak and an all-you-can-eat buffet of edamame, pork and peanut salad, kimchi, pad thai, pineapple friend rice, green chicken curry, hoisin-glazed lamb chops, and steamed grouper with lemongrass and coconut. Finally, enjoy a dessert bar of dark chocolate filled wontons, Taiwanese pineapple cake, blank sambo and Chinese five-spice chocolate chiffon cake. $59 includes dinner, entertainment and the first featured beverage.
Learn Cooking 101 from the award-winning Snowbasin Resort culinary team on October 23! This cooking class will help you master your culinary skills and learn about set-up, knife work, butchering, napkin folds and beverage pairings. Enjoy social appetizers and open table demonstrations before a buffet dinner and presentation on meat and seafood fabrication and cutting. After the presentation, there will be question session and a kitchen tour. $45 includes all food, instruction and non-alcoholic drinks.
The annual Snowbasin Resort Halloween Party will take place on Friday, October 30. Bring the whole family for games, prizes, treat baskets, costume contest, dance contest, live DJ, cash bar and a creative and festive dinner buffet. Each menu item has a scary name for a delicious dishes including chicken gumbo with Cajun sausage, slow-smoked beef ribs with spicy Carolina-style BBQ sauce, chicken breast with tarragon mustard béchamel, prosciutto-wrapped cod with chimichurri, sautéed pork dumplings in chili sesame sauce, white chocolate fondue and everyone’s favorite, worms squirming in dirt. The party is from 5:30pm – 9:30pm and is $32 for adults 12 and under and $15 for kids age 6-11. Kids 5 and under are free.
