More Terrain Opening Tomorrow

By Megan Collins Fri Dec 06 2019

Dear Guests,

The 19/20 Winter Ski Season has kicked off.  Thanks to Mother Nature and our hard-working team, we were able to open last Friday with great snow conditions and three lifts.  We also opened the new and improved servery inside Earls's Lodge.  This upgraded facility has immediately improved the guest speed of service and food quality.  We are excited about the overwhelmingly positive response we’ve received so far and look forward to more improvements like this in the future.

As we look to this upcoming weekend I wanted to make sure we are communicating the next phase of early-season openings.  We are currently working on expanding the terrain off Needles Gondola, Wildcat Lift and John Paul Lift.  With warmer temperatures these last few days, we’ve had to find pockets of time that we can make snow to help get these areas open.  With the hard work of our team,  on Saturday, December 7, we are excited to have a second way down off of Needles Gondola to include grooming on Needles Run and City Hill.  John Paul Express will open with Expert only terrain and limited lodge services the same day. Our team plans to offer uphill access before the resort opens on Monday, December 9 from 4:00 am – 9:00 am weather permitting. Don’t’ forget to sign up for text alerts by texting UPHILL to 42427 and check the website for the status

Our commitment has been and always will be to open as much terrain and as many lifts as possible with safety and of quality being top of mind.  We will continue to communicate terrain and lift openings through more immediate communication channels like the website and social.

Thank you for making the early season at Snowbasin go so well.  We appreciate your attention to maintaining a safe speed in family zones and obeying our rope closures.  It’s a very active mountain with operations continually working to get things open. Avoiding closed terrain is critically important for your safety and the safety of our team. We will continue to communicate our plan for opening as the weeks go on. We are hoping for good snowmaking temperatures drop and more snow heads this way soon!

Sincerely,

Davy Ratchford, General Manager
