Group dynamics: Does it sometimes feel like you are moving from one power struggle to another? You are not alone. Our society places a high value on individual achievement, yet group interactions are a central element to our everyday lives. There is verifiable evidence to the truth of the statement, "None of us is as smart as all of us." Learn how to identify predictable group interactions and phases of group development to help you find success in small group settings.
Problem solving: "It's my way or the highway." Sure, the authoritarian approach to solving problems can move an organization along the road – but is it the right road? There are several reasons why good people can make bad decisions; groupthink, inferential errors, rigid mindsets, and information overload. Learn how to identify these problems and to implement sound decision-making steps to help move your organization in the right direction.
Managing conflict: Conflict is good – agree or disagree? Communication experts say that if members of your organization get along too well, agree too readily, and move ahead too quickly your organization is missing out on some opportunities for growth.
