Enjoyment of the sport and the mountain environment is also emphasized. The program is aligned with the USSA Training Systems including, Long Term Athlete Development Model, Alpine Training System and the Skills Quest Program. Focus is put on developing skills to ski on all terrain, in all conditions and most of all, have fun on skis!   The Ogden Valley Ski League also introduces children to competition. These events with opportunity to compete in divisional competitions, provide young skiers the opportunity to test the skills they have learned in the program in a fun and friendly environment. The emphasis in competition is placed on individual progress, team results, camaraderie, and fair play.

All Mountain Club - Requires a minimum of five students per program

Goal:  The goal is to develop all mountain skiers/riders with the ability to ski/ride anywhere on the mountain (that is open and safe) under any conditions. To provide a program that gives every young athlete the opportunity to be their best, progress individually while working and improving together as a team. A desire for FUN is required. All programs and acceptance will be determined through a skiing assessment PRIOR to placement.
Mountain Explorers: age 5-6
This program is designed to progress athletes to the next level of all mountain skiing/riding. The goal is to introduce children to the fundamentals of good skiing etiquette and sportsmanship that will help them develop into well rounded, skilled athletes. The focus is on safety, fun and learning, in a non-competitive setting. This program is ideal for children who have previous lessons and experience. All athletes must have graduated from using the “edgie-wedgie” ski trainer, have ridden the Becker Chair in lessons, and qualify per instructor approval. Placement day will clarify if children are ready to start in the Mountain Explorers or need further lessons in our cubs programs.
Mountain Explorers Plus: ages 7-12
Participants establish a solid foundation of athletic skills on more varied all mountain terrain. Children learn to navigate the terrain on groomed and ungroomed snow, through bumps and trees. Explorers gain skills and social development with peers in a non-competitive setting. Emphasis on skills each week includes athletic stance, balance, edging, and pressuring movements to further advance the skill set. Coaching ratio approximately 1 to 6 participants.
Big Mountain Program: ages 13-18
