Due to popular demand and a 100 inch base, for the 1st time ever Snowbasin Resort will be re-opening for weekends beginning June 11th and will remain open for as long as snow conditions allow. Skiers and Riders will be able to upload and download on Needles Gondola to access multiple runs off intermediate terrain off of Middle Bowl Triple from 8 am to 2 pm. Snowbasin’s General Manager said, “Maintenance scheduled for Needles Gondola has been recently completed which will allow access to the Middle Bowl Triple. Pre-season pass deals are available now through October 3rd, on-line or in Earl's Lodge on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Additional pass holder perks have been included with a Snowbasin season pass for even more value.

For guests that are uncertain how many days they will get out and enjoy the mountain this winter, there are options for enjoying discounted passes for Snowbasin," said Jodi Holmgren, spokesperson. A direct-to-lift discount card (DTL) is available through December 12th. The DTL card looks like a season pass and is connected to your credit card. Purchasing the discount card provides direct-to-lift access and convenience at a discounted rate, which charges your credit card when it is scanned at the lift. "It's a pay as you go pass," said Jodi.

New this year, Snowbasin has modified the ten-day pass so that unused days can be rolled over to the next year. The ten-day pass also provides significant savings at only $50 per day, or $500. In order to roll unused days over, the pass needs to be brought back up to ten days for the following year prior to the posted cut off date.

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH , July 29, 2010: The sweltry dog days of summer are a sure sign that a refreshing burst of winter is just around the corner.

Ski Utah will kick-off their official 100 day countdown to the ski season on August 7, 2010 at the Salt Lake City Farmer's Market. Ski Utah will take one dollar donations in exchange for flavorful yellow snow cones provided by Snowie to benefit Wasatch Backcountry Rescue (WBR) avalanche dogs. Dogs will also be on hand to perform skills demonstrations and Utah ski resorts will hand out doggy bags full of swag and resort information.

Wasatch Backcountry Rescue is a nonprofit Utah corporation, incorporated in 1977 to provide life-saving rescue and recovery services to the general public. "Dog teams reduce the number of personnel exposed to further hazard," said Jake Hutchinson, director of ski patrol for The Canyons Resort. "One canine team can do the job of more than 150 people searching with probes in rock-hard avalanche debris."

Ski Utah also reminds snow enthusiasts that now is the time to secure the best prices available for season passes and other preseason ticket packages. Families are also encouraged to apply for the Ski Utah Fifth and Sixth Grade Passports, the best way for fifth and sixth grade students to enjoy The Greatest Snow on Earth(r). Through the program, fifth graders can ski or snowboard 39 times for $25 and sixth graders can enjoy 13 days on the slopes for $20.

The event will also serve as the kick-off to Ski Utah's Ultimate Powder Hound search. Ski Utah is searching for the Ultimate Powder Hound to join their blogging team. As part of the blog team, the Ultimate Powder Hound will be awarded a Ski Utah Silver Pass which enables them to ski 30 days at every Utah ski resort. That's 390 days of skiing! Ski Utah has never before awarded a Sliver Pass as a contest prize. Entrants are required to fill out a short application and submit a 30 second video on why they should be selected as the Ultimate Powder Hound.

Ogden, Utah (July, 2010) – The 2nd Annual Mt. Ogden 50/100k at Snowbasin will take place on Saturday, August 28th. The inaugural mountain bike race featured a 50k course at Snowbasin and was a huge success last summer. In fact, the event was so strongly supported by the mountain bike community, that it has been expanded to include a 100k event and a four-person relay. The course includes two 25k loops and two 50k loops.

The race is capped at 350 athletes, and more than 200 have already registered representing a dozen states from the western states. Snowbasin has engaged bike clubs, bike shops, and sports related companies to make the Mt. Ogden 50/100k at Snowbasin a community event. “Ogden really steps up when there is a quality event for sports enthusiasts,” said Steve Andrus, Snowbasin race event manager.

“The big feature is the quality of the cross country course,” said Pete Buttschardt, race committee member, athlete, and sponsor (Roosters). “It includes climbs, descents, rolls, and places to let the bike go really fast and have fun. This is a fantastic long course.”

In addition to a quality race event for serious athletes, the event will feature non-stop musical entertainment, food, and family fun including kids races. There is no charge for spectators. The festival, expo and music starts at 10:00 a.m., and the headliner, Codi Jordan Band, will play from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in Wildflower Meadow.

For Kym and Pete Buttschardt at Roosters who regularly ride the trails in the summer and ski them in the winter, the Mt. Ogden 50/100k course is their home court. “This was a natural fit for the Roosters team be involved and support this event,” said Pete.

The Mt. Ogden Mid-Week race series hosted each Wednesday night at Snowbasin by Bikers Edge, and is a perfect training opportunity for the endurance race in August.

Snowbasin offers 26 miles of well-maintained single-track trails, which connect to an additional 25 miles of Forest Service trails. Gondola access for mountain biking and hiking is available on Saturday and Sunday.
